Many hospitals have shut down the whole allowing shadowers to come in due to the many Covid restrictions that have been put in place. This is definitely a challenge which I faced this past week with the doctor I had asked to be my mentor. It is completely understandable that Covid would and did put in a few obstacles in many students’ ISM journey, however, that does not mean to give up. Doing this in a more technical approach may even be as rewarding since there are so many new things to learn from that experience too. I am excited and passionate about what this journey will bring and I cannot wait to broaden my knowledge in the field of Pediatrics. Aside from the mentor and mentorship aspect of ISM, I have also been creating a game plan for what I want to do for my final product. Although this is not set in stone, I have brainstormed a few ideas down which will also connect to the topic of Rheumatology since that is the subspecialty my mentor works in. I am beyond excited to work further onto this product and mentorship and see what comes from it and how it progresses my ISM journey.
