Lately I have been trying to secure more interviews to gather a pool of doctors that I feel can be my mentor during my ISM journey. For this reason, I was able to successfully conduct 3 interviews this past week which have allowed me to expand this pool of potential mentors. Not only has this given me more options for a mentor, but it has also greatly allowed me to gather deep insight into the field of Pediatrics. I had interviews with 3 doctors with 3 very different types of subspecialties. The first being a regular Pediatrician, the second being a Pediatric Neurologist, and the last being a Pediatric Rheumatologist. I was opened to many new concepts of knowledge that I was able to grasp through these professionals in the field of medicine. Growing closer to the step of which we have to select our mentor, it has been tough to decide which doctor I would choose from my 5 interviews conducted throughout ISM. My next step would actually be to contact doctors that have been recommended to me by my previous interviewees. I aspire to do this due to the fact that it might open up something more in the field of surgery which is what I essentially want to pursue. However, these interviews have really given me great understanding of the medical field.
